Detmold Open Air Museum
Step into the past country life. In the Open Air Museum Detmold you can admire and visit more than 500 years of Westphalian everyday culture. You can take part in guided tours, activities, courses and also explore the extensive grounds in a relaxed carriage.
Climbing park and zoo Solling
In the high forest region Solling, near the village Neuhaus im Solling. A leisure activity for young and old. The climbing park is suitable for all ages and ability levels, fun for the whole family.
The Solling Zoo shows above all the local fauna, from wild boar and wolves to red deer, the king of the woods. Some enclosures are spacious open-air enclosures that visitors can hike through. Several times a day there are flight demonstrations in the falconry.
World Heritage Corvey Monastery
A former Benedictine abbey near the town of Höxter. Corvey was a very important Carolingian monastery and has been a UNSECO World Heritage Site since 2014.
Paderborn (cathedral and imperial palace)
Late Romanesque, Gothic cathedral church in the centre of Paderborn, mainly from the 13th century.
Eagle Observatory Berlebeck

Hermann Monument / Externsteine
At 54 m, the Hermann monument is the highest statue in Germany. It shows the Cheruscan prince Arminius. The Externsteine, a sandstone formation, is of special cultural-historical importance and is regarded as Germany’s outstanding natural monument.

Nature experiences
Merlsheim

Südholzer Wiesen
The shortest hiking tour with the lowest gradient is a good starting point. You explore the meadows and forests in the west of Nieheim on easy, mostly flat paths with only a longer, moderately steep ascent.
Erwitzen
On the hilly hiking tour you will explore the wooded mountains in the south of Nieheim. You will get to know many advantages of a healthy diet and sports activities. In the district Erwitzen you have the possibility to take a break and eat something light at the Landgasthaus Nolte.
Klunsberg
The two-hour hike takes you over the wooded heights and sunny forest edges of the south of Nieheim. On the way you can visit the Holzhausen estate, a 16th century listed building.
